What does Aixtron do?
Aixtron is a leading German manufacturer of semiconductor production equipment. These highly specialized machines enable the production of chips that are essential for future technologies, including applications in artificial intelligence, 5G mobile communications, autonomous driving, renewable energies, and energy-efficient electronics. The company supplies customers worldwide and is considered a key enabler of digital transformation and electromobility. Aixtron's strong market position in a growing technology field makes it particularly exciting and attractive for investors.
Analysis of business figures
The half-year figures for 2025, which Aixtron published on July 31, were impressive. Despite a challenging environment, revenue remained stable at around €250 million, matching the previous year's level. In the second quarter, revenue even rose slightly to €137.4 million – an increase compared to €131.8 million in the same quarter of the previous year and at the upper end of expectations.
Operating profit, or earnings before interest and taxes, also developed positively: At €23.6 million in the second quarter, it almost doubled compared to the previous year (€12.9 million). Aixtron thus exceeded analysts' expectations and simultaneously confirmed its full-year forecast. For 2025, the company is targeting revenue of between €530 million and €600 million. By comparison, in 2024, revenue was €633 million. The targeted profit margin is between 18 and 22 percent.
The improvement in cash flow is particularly noteworthy. In the first half of the year, Aixtron generated a positive free cash flow of €71 million, compared to a loss of €56.5 million in the previous year. With an equity ratio of approximately 87 percent, the company also has a very solid financial base. This means that Aixtron operates almost exclusively with its own capital and is therefore financially very stable.
Risks and challenges
Despite the positive fundamentals, investors should not ignore potential risks. Demand for semiconductor equipment is subject to cyclical fluctuations, which can weigh on the share price if orders decline. Furthermore, Aixtron operates in a highly competitive market with international competitors that are also technological leaders and extremely innovative. Political developments, such as export restrictions on high-tech equipment or changes to trade agreements, could also significantly impact business performance.
Analyst opinions
The majority of analysts are optimistic. The average price target for Aixtron shares is around €16, roughly 20 percent above the current price level. The strong growth potential in the areas of AI and electromobility is particularly encouraging. Investors are also rewarding the confirmation of the annual forecast, which is seen as a signal of stability and reliability.

Conclusion with recommendation
Aixtron's 2025 stock is an exciting prospect for long-term investors. The strong equity ratio, compelling profit margin, and strong growth prospects speak for a solid investment in future technologies. Nevertheless, investors should be aware of the risks inherent in the cyclical semiconductor market. Those focused on opportunities in AI, 5G, and electromobility should keep Aixtron on their radar.
