What is Deutsche Telekom doing?
Deutsche Telekom is one of the world's largest telecommunications companies. The company operates fixed-line, mobile, TV, and data services and is Europe's leading provider in this sector. Of particular importance: Telekom is the majority shareholder of T-Mobile US, one of the most profitable mobile phone companies in the USA. This US business has been the most important growth driver for years.
In Germany, Deutsche Telekom dominates the market for mobile communications, fiber optics, and 5G. Across Europe, the company operates in over ten countries. Furthermore, Deutsche Telekom is investing heavily in digitalization, cloud services, and a strategic AI partnership with Nvidia to remain competitive in the long term.
Analysis of business figures
In the third quarter of 2025, Deutsche Telekom increased its revenue by 3.3 percent. The group generated total revenue of €28.9 billion. Adjusted profit, which reflects the performance of day-to-day operations, rose significantly to €2.7 billion. The officially reported profit was slightly lower because the previous year's figure included one-off special effects that were not present this time. However, this has no bearing on the company's core business performance, which remains very strong.
T-Mobile US performed particularly well in the US, where Deutsche Telekom recorded a record quarter, adding 2.3 million new contract customers. Recurring service revenue rose by 9 percent and operating profit increased by 5.5 percent. The US market thus remains the most important growth driver for the entire group.
Business in Germany developed steadily. Telekom gained over 300,000 new mobile customers and further expanded its fiber optic network. Currently, 11.8 million households can use a Telekom fiber optic connection.
Because the company is performing better than expected overall, Deutsche Telekom has raised its annual forecast for the third time. It now expects an operating profit of €45.3 billion and free cash flow of €20.1 billion. The company also plans a record dividend of €1.00 per share – the highest ever paid.
Explanation of possible risks or price declines
Despite the strong figures, risks remain. The German broadband market is stagnating, intensifying competition. Exchange rate fluctuations could distort the US results. Furthermore, the business is highly capital-intensive. High investments in networks and technology are putting a strain on short-term cash flow.
Another risk: Despite strong operational performance, Deutsche Telekom's stock has recently underperformed the overall market. The share price is around 24 percent below its yearly high and shows weaker relative price momentum.
Analyst opinions
According to Investing.com All 18 analysts surveyed recommend buying Deutsche Telekom shares. Average price targets are around 40 percent above the current share price. Banks such as Deutsche Bank and JPMorgan praise the company's stable core business, strong performance in the US, and attractive dividend policy.
Valuation and price development
TransparentShare currently rates Deutsche Telekom shares at 4 out of 11 points as of November 18, 2025. Positive factors include the high profit margin of nearly 23 percent, a favorable price-to-earnings ratio of under 13, and the expected profit growth.
The weak share price performance of recent months, which lagged behind the overall market, is a negative point. Nevertheless, the overall assessment remains positive.
